Nucleophilic fluorination agent Deoxo-fluor now available worldwide from Scott Medical Products

Scott Medical Products, Plumsteadville PA and Air Products & Chemicals, Allentown PA, are excited to announce that Deoxo-fluor™, a proprietary versatile, easy to use nucleophilic reagent that is a safe and effective replacement for DAST, is now available worldwide. Through extensive testing, Deoxo-fluor has now become approved for shipment throughout the United States and Japan in neat form. Once only available in 50% blends with THF or Toluene, this testing has allowed the U.S. Department of Transportation to classify the material as shippable in neat form. For customers in Europe, Deoxo-fluor is still available in blended mixtures while European testing continues . This now allows pharmaceutical and other companies to do fluorination reactions on large scales, deoxofluorinating a wide variety of alcohols, aldehydes, and ketones under mild conditions to yield fluorinated compounds with high efficiency and selectivity.

Scott Medical Products exhibits at CPhI, worlds largest pharmaceutical intermediates show

Plumsteadville, PA-Scott Medical Products will exhibit for the second year in a row at the CPhI meeting, held in Frankfurt, Germany. Scott will be showing its line of active pharmaceutical ingredient fluorocarbons, including perfluoropropane (C₃F₈) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆), as well as its fluorination agents Selectfluor and Deoxo-fluor, manufactured by Air Products and Chemicals. The booth is located in Hall 9.2, in the US Pavillion, at stand #5.

Scott Medical Products supplies special large volume cylinder for anesthesia calibration gases

In response to requests by manufacturers of anesthetic monitors for cylinders specifically designed for high volumes of low pressure anesthetic gas mixtures, Scott Medical Products has designed the Scott "SL" cylinder. The SL cylinder is constructed of high-gloss, stainless steel with rugged casters for ease of trans-port. The SL cylinder's dual-shell construction ensures integrity and purity of the anesthetic gas mixtures. Equipped with a common CGA 510 valve, the Scott SL cylinder uses a standard regulator. At full pressure the Scott SL cylinder holds 3265 liters of anesthetic gas mixtures as compared with 480 liters in the AL cylinder, or 1765 liters in the XL cylinder; thereby reducing cylinder change-outs, minimizing handling and re-ordering, and simplifying your cylinder management. As with all Scott Medical Products Anesthesia Calibration Products, you are guaranteed high accuracy with a 2% relative blend tolerance. The Scott SL cylinder is gravimetrically blended with a variety of anesthetic concentrations of Sevoflurane, Halothane, Enflurane, Isoflurane, or Desflurane.

Air Products and Chemicals selects Scott Medical Products to market and sell Fluorinating Reagents to global pharmaceutical industry

Plumsteadville, PA-Scott Specialty Gases recently announced its Medical Products division has entered into a 10-year agreement with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. The agreement awards Scott the exclusive right to market and sell Air Products' Selectfluor and Deoxo-Fluor fluorination products to the global pharmaceutical industry. The agents are used as intermediates in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. According to Graham M. Bones, Air Products' General Manager, Packaged Gases-North America, "The agreement enables us to sell more fluorination agents to the global pharmaceutical market. Scott's core business includes the production and supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), specialty gases and related handling equipment for the health care marketplace. It also allows us to focus on production and additional product-specific research and development."
