Helium-3 and Xenon specialty gases are used in two types of nuclear radiation detection devices: gamma ray and neutron detectors. These detectors are used at nuclear fuel factories, harbors and ports, airports, waste storage areas and oil drilling operations. Neutron detectors incorporate Helium-3 gas in proportional counters, while many gamma ray detectors incorporate Xenon gas.
