Scott Specialty Gases is the world's foremost authority and supplier of environmental calibration gas mixtures. We helped develop original EPA protocol gas mixtures guidelines with the US Environmental Protection Agency, have been actively involved in subsequent revisions, and participate in other EPA calibration gas issues.
EPA PROTOCOLS
Scott Specialty Gases is the world's largest supplier of EPA protocol gases. In a recently published blind audit conducted by the EPA, 57% out of 14 specialty gas suppliers failed to comply with 40 CFR Part 75 accuracy specifications. The EPA requires the actual mixture concentration of a CEM calibration gas to be within 2% of the certified concentration, as stated by the manufacturer of the mixture at the time of preparation. 26% of the gases supplied by the gas suppliers did not meet this specification.
All of the mixtures manufactured by Scott passed the EPA audit. We offer three classes of EPA protocol gas mixtures: Emissions Credit Class™ Gold Standards provide guaranteed ±0.7% accuracy; RATA Class™ protocol gases provide guaranteed ±1% accuracy; and Compliance Class™ protocol gases provide guaranteed ±2% accuracy. All of our EPA protocol gas mixtures are instrumental in helping industry avoid noncompliance fines and downtime caused by inaccurate instrument calibration.

Inaccurate CEMs can easily lead to overstating emissions, thus costing you hundreds of thousands (even millions) of dollars in lost emission credits.
